The project consist of the transformation of an attic. The client requested a well lit, fluid loft space with a loggia overlooking the city. The existing space presented a beautiful roof structure with no intermediate posts. The decision was to keep this structure visible and the space undivided. The partition walls needed for the bathrooms became an important spatial ordering device to keep the unity of the space. Their diagonal geometry uses existing chimneys to express both the unity of the space and to keep visible the beautiful framing. Only furniture separates living spaces from kitchen or bedroom.
